Kitchen Remodel - Here we Go!

This last Christmas while Courtney and Paul were visiting, Courtney showed us pictures of the interior of a house in our neighborhood which had just gone on the market.  Not surprising the house had the exact same original floor plan as ours.  What Courtney discovered was the answer to the question we've had for 20 years, since we moved in... "how do we connect the kitchen to the backyard?"  The home Courtney and Paul found had done just that... they'd moved the kitchen sink from the corner down along the wall, and then put a door in where the rear window was.   With the age long problem solved we began our plans based on this simple approach. Gill Chateauvert, our friend and contractor for 30 years is doing the work. He estimates 5 weeks. Cross your fingers with us.

A nice long counter along the left side of the kitchen, the fridge where it was with pantry beside and above, then the door to the patio..and finally the sink on the right.  The door to the garage stays as does room for the eat-in kitchen table to the far right.

The following is our log for the journey.  Day 0, March 22. Say goodbye to 68 years of happy blue tile!   We loved this kitchen - many happy memories with all our wonderful kids, spouses and grandkids...

Day 1. March 24.  Minus cabinets

Day 2, March 25, Minus walls, ceiling, everything!

Day 3, March 26, Plumbing updated and new door... directly to the patio. Hurray!

.... We've been thinking how nice it was that a few years back we completely renovated the garage and transformed it into the laundry room, still with full sink, epoxied floor and pantry cupboards.  With the fridge and the kitchen table moved in, we're good to go.  Here's the temporary kitchen.
