Taking Shape

This was a big week.

On Monday, the plaster was sanded and on Tuesday all the walls were painted.  On the patio you can still see the mountain of cabinetry that will soon be moving in.

Here's the same shot now on Saturday after the bottom cabinets were installed on Wednesday and Thursday and then on Friday, the granite counter tops, cook top and sink were put in.

On  the stove side, we now have 10' of wonderful counter cooking space.  The cook top has a very low profile and the front of the oven is flush with the cabinet doors.  The blue pieces of masking tape are our temporary pull tabs for opening the drawers and cabinets.

Here's the new sink side with the dishwasher on the right.  Trudy loved the old cast iron / porcelain sink, so we're keeping that theme. When complete, a cabinet front will be added to the dishwasher and then it will blend in and look just like the rest of the cabinets.

Here's looking out the kitchen door to the patio.

And here are roses from the garden and Trudy finishing up pizza that she's cooking in the barbecue with a Plancha.

This coming week should prove to be equally exciting.  Upper cabinets will be installed, the flooring will be laid, then the hall and dinning room doors will be removed and clean framing will be put in where they used to be.  Finally, door and window trim installed.  Power and water will also be turned on as well.  Stay tuned!
